This workshop focuses on how to properly and safely use a (prop) knife onstage. Students will learn some basic aspects of stage combat and learn how to incorporate different knife fighting techniques to tell an engaging story. Students should plan on wearing clothes and shoes they can move in easily.

Workshop Instructor: Grant Steckbeck
Grant Steckbeck received his BS in Theatre Education from Ball State University. He has been teaching theatre at various schools in Indiana including Silver Creek High School, Bloomington High School North, and currently, Carmel High School, where he also teaches IB Film. He has been fight directing and choreographing for both stage and screen for the past twenty years. He has been a fight choreographer on 30+ productions and has taught various stage combat workshops for students at an elementary level all the way up to a collegiate level. Grant lives on the southside with his wife Caitlyn and their three dogs Lily, Molly, and Ginny.
